It strongly resists Syphon, Stun, and Instant Death, but is highly susceptible to Berserk.

The Beholder is immune to Fire and Earth, but extremely weak to Thunder and especially Poison. Its Tentacle Whip and Laser remain non-elemental, but the former has a very high Stun chance and the latter can Dispel the party's buffs. Its Underground Tentacles and attacks are partly Poison-elemental the former has a slight Accuracy nerf, while the latter lost some power and gained a much stronger Poison status. The Beholder has the same moves as in EBF1, but with some adjustments to their mechanics. The second Beholder encounter blocks the path to the Rock Runner minigame, and it respawns. They are mainly accompanied by Eyeballs and Drill Bots in battle. Two Beholders are found in Volcano Peak as high-tier enemies, both appearing on the metal bridges crossing the lava river in the second half of the area. The Beholder has a severe Ice weakness and no resistances. It can directly whack a player with an overhead swing or send barbed tentacles through the ground to stab them from below, but its strongest (and most infamous) attack is a prolonged close-range assault so horrifying that the victim is covered by a black box labelled "" for its duration afterwards, they'll suffer from mild Poison. The Beholder can fire sweeping lasers from its main eye to hit both players for magic damage, but the rest of its moves are single-target physical tentacle attacks. Unlike its future appearances, it faces Matt and Natalie by itself, although it is preceded by two waves of Eyeballs.
Beholder walkthrough series#
The Beholder made its debut in the series as the second boss of the game. Unlike the Eyeballs, the Beholder's colors have remained consistent throughout its appearances a brown body with red spikes, yellow eyes with orange-brown pupils and veins, yellow-white teeth, and dull pink tentacles. All of the Beholder's eyes have a slit-like pupil flanked by two small dots, but its main eye also has two small projections on the sides of the pupil, making it resemble a cross. Some of the tentacles end in secondary eyeballs, and the others can generate barbs, burrow underground, or charge themselves with energy. However, it also has a row of jagged teeth along its bottom and numerous large tentacles emerging from its back and underside. The Beholder's main body resembles an Eyeball, being a roughly spherical body with a large, bloodshot eye on the front and numerous jagged scales or spines along its sides and back.
